The Wolf King returns!

Listen but closely Brothers, for my life’s breath is all but spent. There shall come a time far from now when our Chapter itself is dying, even as I am now dying, and our foes shall gather to destroy us. Then my children, I shall listen for your call in whatever realm of death holds me, and come I shall, no matter what the laws of life and death forbid. At the end I will be there. For the final battle. For the Wolftime.

— Last words of Leman Russ, Primarch of the Space WolvesChapter, taken from the Codicium Imperialis, Vol. VI, Part I of the Liber Honorus

Fresh sightings of forgeworld’s take on the Wolf King  as well as rumors of 8th edition 40k that might be a more streamlined and playable edition of the game, have consolidated my self reward plan post Pilgrym. To be able to paint this bad boy who will hopefully come with two incredibly mean looking beasts to lead my Vlka Fenryka has obviously been a long time dream.

I wanted to share a series of moodier close ups of stuff finished so far. I also have a sizable fleet of three drop pods and two transport flyers midway ready.

Fenrys Hjolda!!

  1. Always a treat to see your Space Wolves again. The way that they look just as good in close up as they do from a distance is a real triumph of painting. Most people seem to manage one at the expense of the other.

    1. Thanks mate. It was nice to share some close ups. The Instagram response was nuts. Clearly this is a pretty strong and different take on Vlka Fenryka. Oh how I wish I’d get to play the game some day…
